As the director of scene 4, act 1, I have set the scene in 2007 in a traditional church. It Midday so the lighting will be bright with an additional spot light on Claudio and hero - who as stood at the front of the church in front of the priest (friar). There are white and pale pink roses everywhere and soft romantic music is playing in the background. Stood at the front is the priest with hero & Claudio either side and slightly in front of him, Beatrice and Leonato are stood near to hero while don John , Don Pedro and Benedick and stood near Claudio. Hero is wearing a white wedding dress and holding a bouquet where as Beatrice a pale pink bridesmaids dress. All the men are wearing black suits with pale pink ties.
For the moment the mood in the church seems to be happy. All their Friends are sat in the pughs waiting for the ceremony to start. Don Pedro, Claudio and Don John are all looking extremely serious in contrast to every one else who look exited and happy, especially Leonato who looks overwhelmed with pride. As the priest starts to talk to music fades away and hero and Claudio are now facing each other. Where hero and Claudio begin to speak on page 64, hero expression mirrors her joyful tone of voice while Claudio remains very serious and very still. one page 64 once more , where Leonato says “ i dare make his answer – none” he touched hero lovingly on the shoulder , then straight after that line were Claudio says “ O , what men dare do! What men may do! What men daily do, not knowing what they do” his serious expression cracks in to one of anger yet he still looks slightly upset and immediately after then when Benedick speaks he should step forward to make himself more obvious. As the scene carries on to page 65 every ones expressions stay more or less the same until Don Pedro speak and steps forward. Then as Claudio begins to speak once more the lights he turns to hero and. Hero starts to look puzzled and upset. The lights dim slightly to show the...
