From many years ago Puerto Rico had phase mayor issues in its’ political status. The current status of the politics in the island is the result of various political activities both within the United States and Puerto Rican governments. By today the people of Puerto Rico are often considered to be a Caribbean nation with their own national identity. But the basic questions that all Puerto Ricans should ask us are: Should Puerto Rico remain a U.S. territory? Should it become a U.S. state? Or Should Puerto Rico become an independent country?
In Puerto Rico during the election year we could notice three new parties that have become a part of the politic constitution. This new parties have their own idealities but still their integrants are the minority of the society. Also the PIP or the Independence party has become minority too, but they still have their strong candidates and ideologies for a better Puerto Rico. The other two parties remaining are the PNP and the PPD standing at the top in stronger arguments, proposals and leadership in the politics. These parties have many difference between them because as we all know the PPD stands firmly for the ELA(Estado Libre Asociado) and the PNP stands strong to integrate and make Puerto Rico the 51 state.
The 51 state is a political phrase that can be used in a positive sense, meaning a region or territory that is supported and officially part of the United States of America. But, it can also be used in a negative sense, meaning as a region perceived to be under excessive American influence or control. There are many reasons that may increase the opinion of voters promoting and admitting Puerto Rico to become a state.
