Topic A: Terrorism and Global Security

Terrorism is an ugly universal phenomenon that knows no border, religion, and nationality. Terrorists have taken lives of thousands of innocent people through their brutal attacks in all over the world. Moreover, terrorists attack and hurt nations with desired goals such as: creating fear among people, convincing nations that their government is weak and not enable to eliminate terrorists, and seeking other political demands in a country. The delegation of Romania considers terrorism to be one of the biggest dangers facing the world today. Terrorist organizations threaten peace and security around the world and they are considered to be a huge obstacle for world’s development. As a matter of fact, the danger of terrorism has grown even greater in recent years. Terrorist groups in many countries have become increasingly linked with other terrorist organizations. Though terrorism once could be considered an internal issue, it now can be considered a global issue and dangerous phenomenon for human beings. The disappointing issue is that terrorists are not active in one country or a specific place. However, they are located in various places and have been organizing their attacks from different countries around the world. Therefore, one can say that terrorists can rise from different nationalities and religious background such as; Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism and so forth. Obviously, if we look at the origins of the religions that terrorists associate themselves with, none of them allow killing of innocent people. In addition, an attack on a country by a terrorist group is frequently an attack on the international security itself.
