Process Design Matrix
The Product-Process Matrix was introduced by Robert Hayes and Steven Wheelwright in the Harvard Business Review in 1979. It helps organizations identify the type of production approach they should use for a product, based on the volumes of the product being produced, and the amount of customization it needs.
iPhone Mobile Phone Process Design Matrix
The Process Design Matrix for the iPhone mobile phone will involve three line items, which include an assembly line, batch, and a continuous flow approach. The iPhone mobile phone is a very sophisticated phone made by the world famous company known as Apple Inc. Apple is known worldwide because of its quality products made mainly for the middle-class and above in the society. The product prices for Apple products are high than its competitors because it aims at giving its products a sophisticated mobiles. This is the fundamental reason Apple products target the middle-class and above in the society because they can afford the prices.
The first line item in the Process Design Matrix for the iPhone mobile phone will be the assembly line, which is very important because it is responsible for producing excellent quality iPhone mobile phones in accordance to the reputation of the Apple products. The assembly line should always be monitored at all times to ensure that it functions as required to make the best products. The second line item will be the batch. Apple should ensure that it is the correct one because it is unprofessional to send to the suppliers the wrong batch and this could lead to awful consequences on the company as well as the iPhone mobile phone.
