I will do it later, I will do it tomorrow, I will start it on Monday, oh I will get to it next week. If you have said any of these statements you probably have a problem with procrastination. I know I have done it and we all do it in some way, whether it's at home, work, or school. Today I am going to persuade you to stop this habit from continuing. I'm going to explain what procrastination is, why we procrastinate, and ways to help you stop procrastinating.
Lets first talk a little bit about what procrastination is.
According to Wikipedia procrastination is defined as the act of replacing high-priority actions with tasks of lower priority or doing something from which one derives enjoyment and put some off the high-priority tasks for a later time. It's been said that some of the best work comes from procrastinating. Although in the end it's better to be organized and fully prepared for the task at hand. Procastination may result in stress, a sense of guilt and crisis, severe loss of personal productivity, as well as social disapproval for not meeting responsibilities or commitments. While is regarded as normal for people to procrastinate to some degree but it becomes a problem when it impedes normal functioning. I think just about anyone can relate to this. Life can be busy. So when we get a free minute from our busy lives we like to go out with friends, spend time with our children, go to the movies, go to the park, just sit and relax, like your friends photos on facebook, and even just sitting and watching funny youtube videos. These things can also lead to putting something off, which is procrastinating. According to webMD the reason a person may procrastinate is because it is more about confidence then perfectionism. Some other reasons one may procrastinate is the lack of motivation-they’re tired, feeling lazy, find the material boring, and even just plain boredom.
