Social-Cognitive Perspective vs. Humanistic Perspective
Psychology as all people know is the scientific study of animals and people. The following paragraphs will explain what social-cognitive perspective is versus humanistic perspective of psychology. Therefore, explaining the differences and similarities of each perspective. These perspectives tend to answer some sort of behavior one specific person has and searches through answers about the behaviors of a person. Through different approaches each perspective has many different assumptions and explanations for each perspective. That being said most perspectives are accepted by people today but others have faults. In order to learn a certain behavior that a person exhibits is learning about ones past not the current status they are facing. Humanistic approach tends to be more optimistic when talking about a person’s free will. Social-Cognitive perspective tends to emphasize more of social behaviors and learning through observation. Through observation and modeling a person could be taught certain behaviors which would lead into observing a person for example a parent or teacher and taught a certain way due to observation. For example, children learn through a parent, a parent is a role model and a child learns from observation of a certain behavior. Also a teacher is also a role model, a person learns through following direction, reading and other methods a teacher would use.
