My Decision to Pursue an MBA
It takes years to learn about our personalities and what makes us tick. Knowing your personality type helps you understand yourself, your reactions, and helps you make sound career choices. I know that I am a highly motivated and results oriented IT leader with a continued ambition for improvement. My personality type is consistent with the career choice I have made to enter management, and at this juncture in time, pursuing my MBA is the next step toward becoming a better leader.
Many individuals pursue their MBA to further their career, start a new career/business, or achieve a personal goal. The MBA is one of the most extensively pursued professional qualifications in today's business world where much emphasis is placed on the importance of higher education. Nowadays MBA's can be found in just about every conceivable area of employment and employers often list an MBA as a preferred qualification for managerial positions. Additionally, many potential employees considered an MBA as an essential qualification to have in order to become, and remain a top leader in their profession.
The MBA is a general qualification designed to familiarize a student with all the major functions of a business and how they interact. The curriculum therefore, is very broad and encompasses General Management, Organizational Leadership, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing and more. This broad focus on so many areas provides a well rounded view of an enterprise and helps us to think more broadly about business issues, analyze them more comprehensively, and make sound decisions. The knowledge gained on all the various facets of an organization also allows us to formulate successful business strategies. The MBA teaches us how to build up and network with colleagues and MBA alumni. It also teaches us written and oral communications skills in individual and in team settings....
