India of my dreams

India got Independence on 15th August 1947, after the struggle of great freedom fighter who lost their lives and struggled for freedom of India from British.

Raising to the height on the occasion, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru made a speech in the assembly which was at once a notable and master piece of literature “Years ago we made tryst with destiny and now mow the time comes when we shall redeem our pledge not wholly or in full measure, but very substantially… At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps India will awake to life and freedom. With becoming humility, freedom and power brings responsibility and that the future is not one of the case or resting but of incessant striving, so that we may fulfill the pledge we have so often taken and the one we shall take today”.

Mr Atlee Prime Minister of UK in a message” My colleagues in UK government join me in sending on this historic day greetings and good wishes to the Government and the people of India. It is our earnest wish that India may go forward in tranquility and prosperity and in so doing contribute to the peace and prosperity of the world.

Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru replies” on behalf on my colleagues in the Government of India and my self, I wish to express our grateful thanks for your message of greetings on this historic day when India emerges into freedom. That freedom means much to us, but it also means much to Asia and world. We hope to utalise the freedom for the advancement of our own people as well as for the furtherance of the peace and prosperity of the world
