"The Blind Side” Film Analysis
In the movie “The Blind Side” which is based on a true story it’s about a less privileged African-American teen age boy named Michael Ohor was trying to be adopted by the Tuohy’s (white family) from Memphis, TN. Leigh Ann Tuohy found Michael Ohor an African-American boy on the streets and made the big decision to take him home and help him out she indeed had a big heart. Seems like the rest of family did not want to accommodate him very well, on his behalf because he did not talk all that much it seemed that they just did not want much to do with him. Michael becomes use to rest of the family and becomes a great asset to the everyone in the home and seems to like him very well. If you look at the movie closely there are some important interpersonal communications that one can learn from in this movie which are:
Intercultural Communication: He came from a totally different race but yet a white family decided to help him out. In his interaction with others such as people in the community and school as well as the family he finds them not being very friendly, he was not use to that way of life. The first time he attended school the students avoided him because of who he was.
Self-Concept: The sweet lady that took him home Leigh Ann Tuohy she received a lot of criticism from her close friends and other family members and asked what was she doing with a black boy that called him her own son. She informed them to why he needs a foster home and family. On the other hand, Michael despites, the poverty as well he is not an academic giant but he is determined to be successful from all angles of his life. He is so determined to make it in life with that he will use every opportunity he can receive and become be a great success in his life in general as well as his social life,...
