“A book is like a garden carried in your pocket.” A garden is full of different fruits, vegetables and flowers. Just as there are many different genres, themes and levels of difficulty in books. My garden of reading has developed throughout the years of my life. I started with small seed books and now I have developed into full ripe books and literature. Some vegetables in my garden like asparagus and zucchini are not as intriguing and beautiful as the flowers. Just as many books are not as fascinating as others.
When I first started planting my garden of reading, I started out with tiny seeds. As I was digging up the ground and watching these seeds being planted I was reading simple books. I was at a young age and digging up my garden was very challenging. I would get frustrated with myself if I couldn’t read a certain word. I used to read a book called “The Foot Book.” It was the first book that helped me read. Dr. Seuss planted this seed in my garden; it gave me the confidence to read other books. My seed of reading began to sprout and I started reading chapter books. Junie B. Joneswas an important growth to my garden. She helped me feel more comfortable in continuing my growth. Junie B. Jones went through the typical childhood activities. She was very ornery and liked to be mischievous. Her sprout was full of laughter and lessons to be learned. She never gave up on herself and continued to blossom. Pedals began forming throughout my garden. I could see the beauty of my progression as my interest in reading grew. My parents began buying me subscriptions to magazines and I began picking up the newspaper for more than just the comics.
My flowers are so beautiful and very intriguing to the eye. Dear John is a beautiful love story about a girl who falls in love with a young military man. This flower survived the tough conditions that my garden faced while reading this book but I began to feel gloomy as the young couple couldn’t survive their long term...
