Training and Mentoring Program
InterClean has an extensive training and mentoring program. Our comprehensive program includes web-based training, vendor training, mentoring and peer group development. We believe that there is a competitive advantage for our people to learn and share (Kubicek, 2004, p. 5). There is a perception in the training world that the more we train and educate, the more likely we will lose our employees to competitors. We feel that training and mentoring builds a sense of pride and provides an opportunity to learn and grow. The growth leads to more stability and enables us to retain more employees because it helps to create an interesting and challenging environment (Cascio, 2006, p. 288). Our company’s change in strategy, geared towards the complete solution package, has left us vulnerable in a volatile industry. Our training and mentoring program will be the backbone to a successful organization with exceptional and highly motivated employees.
Orientation
Companies have high turnover for many reasons. One of these reasons is because employees fail to adapt to their new work environment (Cascio, 2006, p. 312). At InterClean, we strive to provide an atmosphere that is inviting from the very first moment. We want the first impression of our company to be a lasting impression.
Orientation begins before an employee walks through the front door to start their first day. To begin, a letter is sent to formally welcome them to the company. Along with the letter are all the legal documents and an employee handbook. We want our new hires to have the busy work completed so we can get them acquainted with their new team immediately. Finally, and most important, every new hire spends their first day with their immediate supervisor.
