Cloning people has been a controversial issue for many years. Some people think this technology will help people cure serious diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and diabetes, but it can also help people help an indefinite life span in the future. However, I agree to use human cloning to provide identical cells, tissues, and organs for medical treatments, but I strongly oppose to use it to clone people for three reasons.
My first reason is that some people may abuse human cloning for reproductive purposes. People who are evil might clone themselves or others to harm the world. A famous movie, “The Boys from Brazil”, has talked about a similar issue. In this movie, a mad doctor cloned Adolf Hitler and tried to establish a new Nazi empire. Although it was just a movie, no one can guarantee something like that will not happen in reality if scientists can succeed in cloning humans one day.
My second reason is that human cloning will cause ethical concerns. One thing people would be worried about is that our traditional family values will be changed if dead people can be brought to life by being cloned. Can you imagine how weird it could be to have a cloned baby as your grandfather? Another concern is that people possibly clone themselves and take their organs to prolong their lives. It is definitely immoral to sacrifice other people’s lives for the pursuit of immortal life, even though these deprived lives are cloned from themselves.
My third reason is that too many cloned people would endanger the stability of the world. As we know, people are facing serious problems such as famine, overpopulation, and depletion of natural resources. If we allow scientists to clone people, these problems will become even more serious, and then the world will become much more unstable.
To sum up, cloning people is like Pandora’s box, which contained all the evils of mankind. Once this box is opened, all the evils will come out, and the world will step into devastation....
