Dear Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated,

It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Deonte Williams, a senior at Westside High School. I have been his voice teacher for the past two years, and can speak with confidence about his abilities and qualifications for your scholarship.
Deonte is a very intelligent, personable young man who is gifted with clear yet full lyric tenor voice. His learning skills and dedication are excellent, and he has progressed from a beginning singer to a mature vocalist in the past four years. Deonte is a joy to teach, and absorbs what I teach him very quickly. He has a great ear for languages, and has excelled in Italian, German and art song and shorter arias. He has a passion for music of the Negro Spiritual period, and has infused much dramatic passion as well as vocal beauty into the music of Moses Hogan. His innate sense of musicianship and phrasing in his singing is well beyond his eighteen years, and I believe will only grow and mature as he continues his studies in college.

“Deonte has performed with Mercer Youth Chorus for the past four years. He has also played a major part in the “Dream Girls Musical”. Deonte has been selected as a Tenor II for Georgia’s GMEA Honor Choir for the past three years, and has also been selected as a finalist for Georgia’s All-State Choir the past four years. He recently received a superior ranking at North Carolina A&T Summer Talent Show. Deonte is also a member of the FMEC (Future Music Educators Colloquium) which is to encourage high school students who are planning a career in music education.
In closing, I may say, Deonte is a very goal-oriented young man, and I believe that as he continues to gain confidence in himself and his voice, he will be very successful in College and he will surely make your scholarship money worthwhile. I give him a high recommendation.”
Thanks...
