To start I think you need to respect yourself, its important because that is where you would find your basis for respect. It would be impossible to respect someone if your can’t even respect your own self, A way to respect yourself would be to think about all your accomplishments instead of always thinking about the things you have done to fail. Some people dwell on the fact that they always mess up, when instead they should think about all the positive things they have done as an individual. When we were young we were told to respect our elders and our parents but as we grow up I think we begin to lose that respect for them. Then we went to boot camp and we were then shown to respect everyone that is a higher rank to and your peers. Throughout boot camp we were shown the rank structure and how it is important to the Marine Corps and who we are as marines. When we were told to do something we did it, no and ifs or buts because we had so much respect for the drill instructors and also so much fear. When we were being talked to we showed our out most respect, we listened and we did that without blocking them out, or ignoring them witch was almost impossible anyways. When people give you advice think about what they are saying its usually for a good reason, for the most part if someone is trying to give you advice it probably because they learned from something similar that had happened to them in the past and there giving you that advice so you don’t end up in the same boat as they did. Don’t interrupt people until there done or they let you get in the conversation, just wait till you get your chance and then you can ask your question or put your two sense in. other ways to show respect is in your work environment. By doing this you are building tighter bonds with your peers and with tighter bonds you’re more likely to improve work flow.
