Finding Acceptance The author finally realizes what his brother’s life was like. It was peaceful and full of love with another man, nothing he could have ever imagined. He knew his brother lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every minute he had, wishing then he had been a part of it. Having regret is the worst thing in the world to carry around. Certainly the funeral was a wonderful and glorious event for the author. He thanked “several hundred men” for attending the funeral, watching them all and paying attention to their comments and details about life and death. The author knew he could go on with his life after knowing his brother died doing what he loved. I think a funeral is a very emotional process for any family to go through. But it brings loved ones together, and they then realize how precious life is to them. However I do believe the author was pleased to know that his brother did forgive him. Therefore the author was at peace. He just wanted to live in the memory of their childhood and how they were so close back then. I feel that a relationship with a sibling is one that should always be strong. My sister and I are the best of friends. And I could not ever imagine life without her by my side. It’s a bond like no other. Work Cited Lassell, Michael. “How to Watch Your Brother Die” Exploring Literature. Ed. Frank Madden. 3rd ed. New York: Longman, 2007. 273
