Renewable Energy
Due to the development of technology around the nation, the need of energy is increasing every year. But, what would be the best way to produce energy without polluting the air, or depleting fossil fuels? Renewable energy would also be the best solution for this problem. Of the available sources of renewable energy, wind power shows much promise. To help with the wind power, energy tax bills are being signed to help with money, and new ways to make energy cleaner. The importance of energy is becoming greater all the time which calls for some types of renewable energy to come into effect.
The biggest renewable energy resource out there right now is wind powered energy. To convert wind into energy there are wind farms located all over the nation. One wind farm that is exceptionally known is the Wessington Springs Wind Farm in South Dakota. It is a 51-megawatt wind farm that’s the first to provide 100% renewable energy to two colleges in South Dakota (South Dakota Wind). With the farm being recognized for this they are hoping that more parts of the country will convert to wind power. According to Mike McDowell, Heartland General Manager, “This project will have a significant impact on the economy and community of Wessington Springs and the surrounding area, and will be a tremendous energy producer for Heartland. With the Wessington Springs Wind Project, Heartland is the first utility in our state with 20% of its power supply as renewable resources” (South Dakota Wind). The idea of using renewable energy in colleges is a great idea that the country will hopefully look at as a possibility. The main reason why wind power is looked down on is because what the country is using right now seems to be working fine so there is no need for a change.
