Richard Wright’s life is based on racism and all the different people in Richards’s life. Richard has lived a very hard life; he moved from place to place trying to be able fit in with the whites. The Black Boy story tells about the way Richard felt during his childhood about racism and how he dealt with things on his own. Richard doesn’t pick the right people to hang out with therefore they do things that Richard knows better not to do.
Richard is abused by his family. He is also abused by his friends and the white people. For example, Granny abuses Richard but she is not racist she thinks that Richard should go to a private school where he can learn about his religion. Richard had very bad influences throughout his life and did things that he shouldn’t have done. Richard’s family is basically falling apart.
The acts of racism that happened in Richard’s town went back and forth between the blacks and the whites. When Richard would chase a white person and end up catching them he would stone them. Richard only got in trouble when he was with his friends because his friends were a bad influence.
Richards mom would mentally abuse Richard by telling him that he needs to go to the store and get groceries and if he doesn’t he better not come home. He beats the kids up that take his money. Richard also hit the kids with a baseball bat and hurts them severely.
Richard Wright had lived in the black community. The community is racist against whites. Richard lived in a very racist time in the south it was also a very abusive time during the old days. Richard Wright writes his books on his life, past, present and future. Richard needs help with finding himself and what he believes in doing with his dreams.
