Upon reviewing inventory management and control at Riordan Manufacturing, a need exists to improve the current processes to create a cost-effective and efficient environment. Current processes are described below with improved processes to include an Integrated Supply Chain Management Software System. Raw materials come in to receiving area from the supplier. Receiving area supervisor compares shipping documents to the scheduled order. At the end of each day, receiving area supervisor gives the log of raw materials received to the receiving clerk The inventory clerk enters the materials received, vendor, and quantity into the inventory system. Improvements to Raw Materials Receiving Receiving area supervisor scans bar codes from scheduled orders and the Inventory Tracking Module is automatically updated within the Supply Chain Management Software. Raw materials and sub-assemblies are taken out of inventory and moved to manufacturing and assembly. The inventory clerk updates the inventory system based upon the materials used. Manufacturing team builds final products and completes an inventory form. The inventory clerk enters the information from the form into the inventory tracking system. The inventory clerk scans the bar codes from materials that are moved to manufacturing and the Inventory Tracking Module is automatically updated within the Supply Chain Management Software. Upon completion of final products, the manufacturing team scans the bar codes and the Inventory Tracking Module is automatically updated within the Supply Chain Management Software. Orders from customers come in via phone or fax. The sales orders are entered into the customer shipping and billing system.
