Introduction Currently, Waikato Timbers only international experience is with Australia. Due to a recent earthquake in Chile, as well as the benefits of Waikato timber, an agreement has been reached between Menards Inc and Waikato Timbers. Menards will be supplied with high quality moulding timber from Waikato Timbers. This project was begun by Darryl Wade who has been succeeded by Barry Dowdeswell. Barry Dowdeswell has contacted Risk Resolve to identify any risks associated with this project. Due to the timeframe required by Menards for this project to be completed, the following document has been prepared by Risk Resolve to highlight these issues.

Current Situation Waikato Timbers is currently a paper-based company. Software is sourced from external suppliers and then managed in-house. Undertaken successfully, the project, will allow the reduction of paper, the introduction of an e-commerce systems including an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). Menards currently use such an EDI. They have indicated in the Menards Implementation Guidelines, that they use an AS2 link to send purchase orders and receive advanced shipping notices in this fashion. Grand Rapid Lumbers (G.R.L.) is located in Michigan and is the logistical partner in this project. They are well-placed, geographically, to receive orders and dispatch them to Menards stores around the country. G.R.L. is also a paper based company for the majority of the work they do. They also have no e-commerce software in use at the moment.
