1. Value Creation opportunity
Instant Messaging (IM) s a type of online chat which offers real-time text transmission over the internet. Worldwide IM accounts are expected to grow from over 3.1 billion in 2012 to over 3.9 billion by year-end 2016, representing an average growth rate of about 6%.[1] According Figure 1. Market Research [1] [2] [3]
to OPSWAT survey in 2013, Installed IM applications were found on about 45% of users’ machines, while around 28% of all users were found to have an IM application actively running, and these figures do not include browser-based chat services.[2] Even in Chinese market, In Q3 2012, China mobile IM active users reached 480 million, up by 9.8% compared with previous quarter. [3] The technology is declared disruptive and seen as creating the internet industrial revolution. And in several past years, the technology provided several value creation opportunities, changed the existing market pattern of telecommunication industry, and has proven it’s wroth investing in the IM market.

IM is one of the major technology trends in telecommunication and internet field over the last several years.Current dominant applications relative to the IM market can be seen in the figure.
It almost changes the existing market pattern related to telecommunication by enable customers receiving audio and video messages through wire or wireless internet without expenses.
