Employee engagement is vital to the success of any organization in today’s marketplace. Research has proven that engaged employees are more productive, more customer focused, happier, loyal and more dedicated to the success of their co-workers and the organization. Management leaders have always had a strong understanding that attracting and retaining top talent is critical for organizational success. However, it has not been until the past two decades that the realization that engaging employees towards the mission and purpose of the organization has been understood.
There are three main parts to employee engagement (Bridger, 2015). There is the physical, emotional and cognitive. When employees are actively engaged on these levels they will expend high out amounts of energy to produce positive outcomes for the organization. High employee engagement levels has been shown to produce significant business outcomes, including improved customer satisfaction, increased profits, as well as decreased turnover. Employee engagement directly impacts the organizational outcomes that affect the bottom line, ignoring this fact can place the organization at a competitive disadvantage. Creating an overall employee engagement strategy for our organization will help attain the best results for Dekra. When implementing a strategy involve the employees with defining the action plan and suggesting possible solutions. After all, employees actually do the day-to-day work.
