Discuss the negative and positive impact of internet
It is notable that internet is quite popular in the current generation and for this reason, internet has gained both positive and negative impacts in the society we are living. It is quite evident that the most affected group of people is the youths who normally spend most of their time surfing internet (Livingstone & Helsper, 2009). In this essay, I am going to discuss both the negative and the positive impacts of internet in the current generation.
Negative impacts of Internet
Despite the fact that internet is contributing more in making work easier in the current generation, it is notable that it has various negative impacts. Social networking is one of the major factors contributing adverse effects on the young generation in the current society (Christopherson, 2007). This is quite evident in especially with the college students. Below are some of the negative factors that I find it worth for discussion regarding the negative impacts of internet.
Reduction of thinking capacity
Despite the fact that internet is regarded as one of the best source of learning for the student, students have misused it to an extend that they can’t take their time to reason some logics concerning what they are learning due to the fact that internet has brought everything to their hands (Christopherson, 2007). It is notable that these days, whenever students are assigned homework by their lecturers, they tend to search and copy everything from the internet sources instead of taking their time to think or discuss. This reduces the level of thinking and also makes students lazy. Lack of thinking also raises concern since if it’s not addressed, the students in the next generation might find themselves not able to do anything by their own without referring to the internet.
