Teachers within education play a main part in inspiring others to peruse a career in education. Within this assignment the roles and responsibilities of teachers that contributed to my personal passion for teaching will be identified and explored; expanding on the responsibilities that may not have been noticed from a student’s perspective but that have now been revealed through the teaching perspective.
In primary school there wasn’t a main teacher that stood out for their teaching style, as all of the teachers are committed to ensure that students are engaged from a young age they tend to be a lot more enthusiastic with their teaching styles, allowing the students to become engaged and interested overall with the subjects whether that be Cooking Exercises or P.E, the teachers have got to be engaged and overly excited about the task at hand to ensure that the students are fascinated at such a young age. A main role however for the teachers is that they demonstrate effective approaches to teaching to more than one level, and also more than one target audience, this could also be related to the subject area being taught; Primary School teachers are required to teach three main subject areas; Maths, English and Science which can be deemed as being the functional skills, their adaptability is a key trait they are required to have to be able to fulfil their role in teaching.
Moving into Secondary School the role of the teacher changed significantly, each teacher all bar the ‘form teacher’ had their own subject specific lesson. This affected the way in which the lessons were delivered, and ultimately how the lesson plans were implemented in order to flow from one week’s class to the next. The English Literature teacher for instance would have a lesson plan structure that would be adhered to without fail week on week; this as a student at the time used to be a comfort as it would be known that the lesson would start with a quiz on the previous weeks’ lesson which...
