Two Movies, two stories, two plays Romeo and Juliet and Westside Story. Family and gangs fighting, people falling in love, and death. Romeo Juliet was written by Shakespeare in 1594 the setting is Verona, Itlay. Westside Story was written by Laurents in1957 the setting is NewYork City in the 1950’s.
In Romeo and Juliet thefamilies Montagues which were Lord and Lady Montague (Romeo’s parents), Romeo Montague, Balthasar and Abram (servants to the Montagues), Mercutio (Friend of Romeo and relative of the Prince), and The Capulets which were Lord and Lady Capulet (Juliets parents),Juliet Capulet ,Nurse (Juliets attendant),Tybalt (cousin to Juliet) Sampson and Gregory (servants to the Capulets) were feuding . Romeo and Juliet fell in love at a very young age and got married. Also Tybalt was killied by Romeo, Romeo killed himself because he though Juliet was dead, and Juliet killed herself because Romeo killed himself.
In Westside Story the gangs the jets which were the second and third generation Americangang and the shark a Puerto Rican Gang were feuding. Tony and maria fell in love but never got married. Riff was killed by maria bother Benardo, benardo was killed by Tony, and chico killed tony. Maria never killed herself instead she was about to kill the gang that kilt tony.
These two stoies Romeo and Juliet is very much similar as well. In both stoies two peple fall in love but in two different family or gangs. Also because two groups of people are fighting for no real reason. Lastly because people lose there lives from the fighting between the groups. Westside Stoy was based off of Romeo and Juliet.
These stories is very much similar and different love, hate, fighting and death. At the end of both stories Romeo and Juliet and The Westside Story the fued had stop after all the killing and death. These stories made me relize that fighting is not worth losing a life and that people do crazy things for love.
