Marriage promotes monogamous relationships among people who are committed to one another regardless of their sexual orientation. There are a lot of unhealthy relationships between men and women who do not provide a healthy household for their children. It is a double standard to assert that gay marriages are fundamentally wrong for society when so many straight marriages are squandered, which subjects children to an unstable foundation.
Utilitarianism is a very influential theory, and its variation. The utilitarian principle applies to individual actions. For each action, we consider the impact on utility and judge the action by its net impact.
