Hello and thank you for joining me this evening. My name is Helen and I would like to talk to you about something that would help School Security.
As you know school shootings are on the rise in the United States. There have been all types of measurements discussed to protect our children. Take Sandy Hook for example: The Shooter decided not to go through the door so he shot the windows out. It took something like this before they decided to discuss protection in the schools. Most gunmen try to use deterrence as a form of punishment or a threat to deter people from offending them. So up on approach they shot the first person they see and the rest run and hide.
What I am about to say would make us all feel safe when our children are in school. I think all schools should install Bullet Proof Windows . Because the windows are made out of Polycarbonate, it is a tough transparent plastic. It is basically made by layering a polycarbonate material between pieces of ordinary glass in a process called lamination. A bullet fired at a sheet of bullet-resistant glass will pierce the outside layer of the glass, but the layered polycarbonate-glass material is able to absorb the bullet's energy and stop it before it exits the final layer. It also depends on the thickness of the glass. These windows could guarantee our children’s safety.
I oppose of the teachers having weapons in the class rooms, because we have dysfunctional teachers just as well as dysfunctional students. Some cases date back as far as the 1700’s -2000. Here are a few examples: July 26, 1764 Pontiac's Rebellion school massacre,. December 22, 1868: Chattanooga, Tennessee a boy, who refused to be whipped by his teacher, left the school. The next day he returned with his brother and a friend for revenge. Not finding the teacher at the school, they continued to his house, where a gun battle took place and three died. Only the brother survived. February 24, 1903: Inman, South Carolina...
