Friday Night Lights
It was a blazing hot summer’s day when I was sitting in the locker room putting on my shoulder pads and my cleats. You could just smell all the sweat from the hard work we put in over the summer just pouring out of those shoulder pads. Everyone was being loud and crazy and getting so pumped up to play the first game of the season. Everyone was excited to get to put those brand new bright red jerseys on! As we walk out of the locker room you can hear the crowd start to roar everyone was just as excited to see those red jerseys as we were! The band started to play and the people started to clap and yell! The whole football team was getting pumped up inside that ten foot tall inflatable football helmet. We were determined to go out and fight on that field for every yard we got. Sean and I were in the front of the pack as we started to run out of that helmet, I just remember the feel of ripping through that banner and leading the 2012-2013 Sullivan East patriot’s football team out onto the field. When we got to the sideline the crowd was going crazy the student section was in a roar. We didn’t care about anything at that moment but winning that football game or if we lost we would know that we played the hardest that we could! We had quite a task ahead of us because the seniors last year went onto a 7 win and 3 loss seasons and made it to the playoffs which mad them the 3rd best team in school history. The first whistle blew and I just remember standing on that front line of the kickoff return team being the center of the wall as the ball was kicked we sprinted back into our positions and we all had a look of anger on our faces we were determined to hit someone as hard as we could and make sure that they knew we had come to play a hell of a football game.
