Sectionalism

Sectionalism Sectionalism is what created the United States and made who we are. It created the different states and different cultures that we have here in America. If the explorers had not of decided to search out for more than what they had, America might not be what it is today. People sailed from England to come to the new world, today known as America, to exercise the religion they wanted to and they wanted to start a new life. Theses people were commonly called the Puritans. They started a little colony named Jamestown. There were previous settlements that colonists tried to establish but they did not survive because of the hard winters or the diseases that were in the New World that they were not use to. Jamestown was the first colony that was established and that survived. Their first winter was brutal and rough and they did not almost survive through the winter. If it would have not been for their leader, John Smith, they would have not been able to survive and succeed as a colony. Smith kept everyone in order and became friends with the Native Americans there and the Native Americans gave them food and helped them survive from starvation. From here on more and more colonists arrived at Jamestown and Plymouth, another settlement farther up north, and this is how America was started. People would go farther south than Jamestown and farther north than Plymouth. Eventually the thirteen colonies grew and were still being ruled by Great Britain and Britain was treating them unfairly and leaders of the thirteen colonies came together and said they wanted to be a free country. Thus the thirteen colonies went to war with Britain. The colonist finally defeated Britain and won their independence. So the thirteen colonies became America and could live how they wanted to, and so they did. The north was wealthier and was industrialized while the south was poor and was the slave nation.
