In “A Brave New World” by Aldous Huxley, there are many examples where men and women are treated differently. Some examples are when the director is giving a tour, all the students are boys. There are no girls, it gives us a hint that women have less power and status in society in the book. Another example is to retain the States control over population, girls fetuses are sterilized and boy fetuses are not sterilized. This seems unfair to the women, they should be able to decide if they would like to have a baby or not. I want to talk about how men and women are treated in our world, and the differences in how things are ok depending on your sex.
There are many things that are different for men and women, it differs depending on the country and religion. For Christianity and in the U.S. there are quite a few. An example we talked about in class I will talk about a little more. We talked about how women are called sluts if they mess around a lot, but men are given high fives for messing around. I think this is not fair, but I do think it has to do with a woman carries the baby and has the opportunity to get pregnant. Although it is the man's responsibility also when the women gets pregnant, I think it hurts the women more than the man.
The last example I will talk about is how it is ok for women to look at men on their computers shirtless and almost nude, but when a man is looking at a female in a bikini he is viewed as a pervert. I have seen many times girl having photos of guys shirtless on their phones, but I have never seen a guy have pictures of girls in bikinis on their phone. I think this happens because it is more common to see a guy shirtless other places than the pool, but women are mostly in bikinis by the pool.
There are so many examples in our society where things men do are ok and things women do are ok. So I really don’t think either sex could complain too much that one sex is being treated worse, except for a few occasions. But in today’s...
