Should Aids Patients Be Discriminated Against?

Nowadays, Not only researchers, but the common people have debated that should AIDS patients be discriminated against for several decades. It is an obvious phenomenon in 21st century. From different reports, I can see most of people have different degree of discrimination in different country. However, should AIDS patients really be discriminated against? I don’t think so. In my opinion, ADIS patients should gain their lifestyle and we can’t interfere with them; moreover, we should treat them in a fair way.
More and more people now discriminate against people with infections, especially ADIS, and there is a stigma related to HIV/AIDS. In Li, Liang, Lin & Wu’s (2009) article “Individual Attitudes and Perceived Social Norms”, they find that HIV/AIDS-related stigma among Chinese service providers by comparing their personal attitudes toward people living with HIV/AIDS. That’s improved people have different opinions to AIDS patients and there is a Stigma related to HIV/AIDS. So how does the discrimination happen? Firstly, I want to show you two examples about discrimination. The first one is that many years ago, a person went to a company to look for a job. To his surprised, that company employed him, however, he got a fire when the company found he had AIDS. “HIV/AIDS related discrimination in employment occurs at all stages of the employment relationship.”(2003, para.1). The second example is gay men. If a man has been renting a room for a year in a house of elderly couple was evicted after they have aware of HIV. In the article (2003) “examples of HIV/ADIS discrimination”, it shows that Discrimination also occurs in private and public accommodation for people who are HIV positive or assumed to be positive, or those who have been mistakenly associated with the HIV.(para.2). That are two things which show us how does discrimination occurs in our life respectively.
