Should Batman Kill the Joker?
Should he or shouldn’t he that is the big question to answer. There are a lot of pro’s and con’s to this argument. This is a complex situation considering the many consequences on either side he chooses. Realistically Batman should kill the Joker, just like the Joker has been trying to kill Batman for years. “After all, the Joker is a murderous psychopath, and Batman can save many countless lives by ending his miserable existence once and for all” (White Apr 404). The Joker is one of the main reasons why the city of Gotham has so many deaths. The many deaths may differ from a simple and quiet “stick up” or as a difficult and dangerous bank robbery. But would Batman really bring justice through the death of a murderous foe? Would our watchful protector we fear, go against what he stands for or would our silent guardian just watch as many people die before him? The Joker maybe is the most demented psychopath out there so isn’t it only right to see him put away for good? Although he is a murderous villain he still is a human being. Therefore he deserves at least the minimal level of respect and humanity.
This argument applies to real life heroes today in our society; such as police officers, firefighters, doctors, and those in the military fighting for our freedom. Should they kill every criminal or terrorist that’s threating our society every day? For example, should Batman make every criminal pay the ultimate price for committing a crime? Or is this too inhumane to kill someone reason being, that they are still a human and no one is a perfect person. I would think many of those criminals are like the Joker, killing for fun or the joy of doing harm to innocent people like you and me. Why do they do it?
