Should we be allowed to Carry Guns?
Personal safety should always be someone’s main concern. One may believe they reside in an inviolable neighborhood, but danger is everywhere and most are unaware of it. There are currently non-lethal methods of self-protection; one may carry a can of pepper spray or a stun gun, but in certain scenarios, those may not be sufficient. People should definitely be allowed to carry a gun as long as they are free of a criminal record.
`One may think they live in a crime free environment, but no one is really aware of the mental state of those they are surrounded by. Suppose you are a younger woman that lives in a quiet, serene neighborhood where you believe you can go out for a nightly jog. You are not really acquainted with your neighbors but you believe they are nice people just because they do not make too much noise and they seem to go about their daily tasks normally. There can always be that one creep of a neighbor that watches you as you leave your house. One night he may follow you until you reach a secluded area. Who knows what his intentions are, but if he were to attack you and you have no firearm, only a small can of pepper spray which are not always effective, you will not be able to stop him. You cannot believe that all people are good or mentally sane just because they appear to be. It is always better to be safe than sorry and if it is safer to carry around a small firearm then we should be permitted to do so for our own protection.
There have been many public situations in which guns were the problem and guns could have quickly solved the problem. A generic example: if a student at a college/university decided to bring a gun to school and shoot some people down, he or she would basically be in control of the situation until any type of armed force were to arrive.
