Six Characters in Search of an Author

Six Characters in Search of an Author The play of Six Characters in Search of an Author by Luigi Pirandello is a play that is known for it's great drama. This is a play that examines the fact of reality unlike many plays today. Throughout the play Pindandello is telling a story and watching and listening you, as the customer will find the truth and reality to the story.

The story of Six Characters in Search of an Author is about life and art and how these two categories can come together and build a relationship. There are six characters in the story that consist of the father, a mother, a stepdaughter, a son, and two silent characters the boy and the child also milliner Madame Pace. All of these characters make up the story. There is one major difference the author of the play shows that there may be a slight difference. Well concluding that the difference is the he wants there to be a distinction between the character and the actor. The characters in the story are real on the other hand the actors could be any way they wanted. Meaning that they might not act out the emotion and expression that the play is giving this character. The main importance to the story is that all of the six characters abandoned by their creator (summary pg523). This meant that the characters are out there alone on their own. This therefore caused the characters to go a stray while acting. This showed that the play may portray that maybe cause the actors or actress to be a little lost on stage. The good thing about this play is unlike many plays and drama it shows realism and as the reader it made it very interesting for me to read.
