1.The movie “Smoke Signals” by Eyre, I saw the similarities that linked Ilene Joseph’s pain and stress to my pain and stress in life. Although our experiences might be different, but we both felt the sharp part of the stress that our lives were involved. I had moments in my life that for being loaded by stress, my body felt like going to pieces.
2.Another part of the “Smoke Signals” is showing to me that some identity does not change, be effective for outside source. For example, Thomas, who lost his main thing in life and that was his parents. He was told by Victor that victor dad was the cause the death of his parents, but Thomas always look at the good and positive part of it. He believed that Arnold Joseph was a good man and he brought up to Victor the good thing his dad did for Thomas.
3.As Rodriguez said, “I was growing away from my parents,” it links to my situation when I just started my first time school. My mother had never gone to school, not even in elementary level, but my father was a college graduated and knew how to speak three languages fluently. My life mostly was with my mother, my father was never home and always busy working. I never could communicated with my mother. At school I never talked about my mother, and about her being illiterate.
4.When Rodriguez said, “He distinguish himself from his parents”, that is also referring this to my type of relationship with my mother when I got married I had distinguish my mother from my husband family, and the reason was they were all well educated. They never believed in illiterate people.
5.“Difficulties of integrating into American society.” One of the difficulties that I had when I came to America was how to put myself in a society which was way different than the one I came from. For example, in Iran, in my hometown Esfahan, and in the neighborhood where I was raised, my parents and the whole neighborhood knew each others.
