The discussion of this paper will review five (5) distinct questions about to Cultural Diversity. The paper will specifically on culturally diversity from perspectives of ethnic and cultural groups, inclusion, and the workplace.
What are the dimensions of cultural diversity? Identify and briefly explain the dimensions by referencing both textbooks.
Although there is no universal agreement about what workplace diversity means, for the purposes of this text we define diversity as the ways in which people differ that may affect their organizational experience in terms of performance, motivation, communication, and inclusion. This definition reflects the need to recognize the impact of multiple dimensions of diversity (Harvey & Allard, 2009 sic). From my observations in the workplace it is very evident that the various dimensions have a strong effect on people in the workplace.
Performance of an employee in the workplace is how well one completes their jobs for the mission of the organization.
Motivation in regard to employees are their ability to positively function in their job and a desire to do well. They also can be motivated positively by management in their offices.
Communication is the ability for employees to transmit information verbally and written to each other. Communication also can be non-verbal.
Inclusion is the means to be part of a team effort or group in the workplace. If the above-mentioned dimensions are not honored in a workplace, the cultural diversity can lead to stratification. Stratification is the structured ranking of entire groups of people that
perpetuates unequal rewards and power in a society (Schaefer 2011 sic). It is important for the
workplace to have a good understanding of the dimensions of cultural diversity to have a successful, positive, and productive environment among...
