Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima

In 400 B.C. the Chinese played a version of soccer using a ball stuffed with hair. The Romans also played a version of soccer called harpastan. Julius Caesar reportedly used this game as training for his armies. Soccer has been played in various forms in England for about four hundred years before it was accepted as a legitimate game.
On May 21, 1904, FIFA was created for he purpose of formulating rules and regulations to govern the Game of soccer. FIFA today is responsible for all international games as qell as the World Cup Tournament.
Ronaldo is a world known soccer icon. Many call him "the phenomenon", he is considered by experts and fans to be one of the greatest football players of all time. He won his first award as the European Footballer of the Year in 1997 and won the award again in 2002. He is one of only three men to have won the FIFA Player of the Year award three times. Many consider him the greatest striker to play in the last thirty years. On a list called FIFA 100 he was named as one of the best soccer players of all time. This being an amazing recognition because the list was composed by Pele who by former players, current and fans around the world as the greatest player that shall ever live.
In February 2011 it was announced that Ronaldo will be given one very last match for Brazil. Despite it being almost unheard of in international football for players to be given farewell matches for their national side, CBF officials have stated that given the outstanding career of Ronaldo, it is only fitting that his last match should take place in Brazil while representing his nation. The match ended with a Brazil victory of 1-0 and a speech given by Ronaldo.
I find the amazing career of Ronaldo fascinating and it makes me appreciate the sport of soccer on a whole new level. Soccer truly is an amazing sport and must take a very large amount of skill to play.
