Overcoming odds
Soccer is the only sport that I started playing since I was six years old. After almost 13 years of playing it, I really love it now. I started playing for Higher Ground Academy which is charter school in Saint Paul districts for my high school soccer team. It has been a month since we faced Hope Academy and the last time we played them they won 8-1 and now it was time for payback. We were not happy about how the game turned out we were very excited tonight. It was one of the important games of our lives because if we lost it have been over for us. All that hard work for the past 13 years would have went to waste, and we couldn't let that happen. Higher Ground Academy being a low budget school has always struggled to provide equipment to players and for that not enough players have participated in all the games.
March 6, 2013 it was time to put higher ground blue and white jersey to the test. As soon as we stepped out of the bus at Como Field we could head the crowd screaming and chanting our names as if we were already playing. I walked through the stadium with my head held up high thinking this will be memorable day. As I was walking through the staircase with my belongings I could hear my teammates scream we made it. Then we headed to the locker room to change into our uniforms. After we changed we huddled into a group as the coach give us a speech. Then we prayed and headed out to the field.

As were getting ready to head out I could hear people from distance I could hear people fussing about which them will take the trophy home. When we finally got out into the field I could smelling the fresh grass and that’s when the feeling of this being the last and finally game hit me.
