Chapter 1 Ancient America < 1492
George McJunkin found a bone which after 15 years of work is now known to be the remains of a Giant Bison that has known to be exttint for at least 10,000 years.
Archaeology and History
The difference between an archaeologist and a historian is that a archaeologist study physical objects( ex. Bone, stones, pots, jewelry, clothes, graves, and buildings.) Meanwhile, historians study writings ex. Diaries, love letters, laws, speeches ( pg. 4).

Why do historians rely on the work of archaeologist to write the history of ancient America?
Historians rely on the help of archaeologist because in ancient American times the homo sapiens( modernhumans)didn't use writings to communicate instead they invented hundreds of spoken languages so there fore most of our questions can't be answered because they didn't write, that's why we need archaeologist gets involved because they specialize in learning about people in history that didn't write instead of looking for writings they look at buildings, etc. physical objects.
The First Americans
Arrived in western hemisphere from Asia
They had basic survival skills
specialize in hunting big- game
In Europe and Asia they learned butcher skills and how to process game
African and Asian Origins
Pangaea is the name of the giant landmass that the land mass now known as the continents detached from 240 million years ago due to a force deep within the earths core
Homo erectus -early human beings
Early humans first appeared in Africa about 2 million years ago
More than a million years after the homo erectus appeared the modern humans ( homo sapiens) appeared in Africa then they migrated to Europe,
And Asia since there where no land connections to north and south America
The oceans keep the Homo sapiens away from north and south America for 97% of the species existence
