Italy and Spain If we take a look at the world map, we will see that every country looks different from the others, but there are two countries which, deep inside are very similar in many ways. Italy and Spain are two beautiful and lovely countries which both extend in two of the biggest peninsulas in southern Europe. They welcome visitors from all over the world to admire their beauty every time of the year. Even though they are different countries, the similarities between Italy and Spain are so many, that it looks like they are quite the same. These two countries have many things in common, but the strongest similarities that they have are in their language, culture and tourism. Italian language, as well as Spanish, are descendants of Latin language. Both of these languages use Latin letters. The Spanish alphabet has 29 letters, 8 more than the Italian alphabet, but all the Italian letters are all part of Spanish alphabet as well. For a Spanish speaking person it is easy to pronounce Italian and an Italian does the same in pronouncing Spanish. Many words are spoken and written in the same way, and many others are very similar such that Italians can easily understand Spanish and vice versa. For instance, the Italian word “Grazie”, which means “Thank you” in English, it is written “Gracias” in Spanish. People’s names are also very similar. Some Spanish names, such as Marcos, Carlos and Alejandra are almost the same as the Italian names Marco Carlo and Alessandra. The influence that these two countries have in each other’s language is enormous. If somebody learns one of these languages, then it is going to be easier for him or her to learn the other one. The similarity between their languages makes both Italy and Spain very similar countries.
