The purpose for Glik’sarticle is to reveal the analysis of the characteristics of spiritual healing. The article provides information based in studies that revel the psychological effects of the spiritual healing process that enable individuals to feel as if they received healing properties. Furthermore, Glikexpresses that these healing experiences can be explained as a socially constructed event. The methodology employed by Gilkin this article is a study based on interviews with one hundred and sixty participants in Baltimore between the dates of 1981 and 1983. In this study, survey data is used to explain how these individuals involved in spiritual healing groups indentified their health problems. Also, how these problems were “fixed” or healed, if at all, over a time span of six months. In addition, quantitative and qualitative data was collected and placed in a chart to show the problems of the individuals, the number of people with this issue, and the percentile that were healed or not. The main concepts and themes developed in this article is the abilities to be healed or not through the alternative methods of spiritual healing. The main concept is that the individuals that were involved in this spiritual healing process felt that they were affected positively because of their advanced level of dedication and faith to the program. Furthermore, a common thread of information that was present in these healings was that people believed that during the course of this a major level of anxiety and stress was relived from the persons. Another main theme developed in this was that this process was strongly based on a social constructionist approach. A critique of this article entails that the findings provided here in this study are subject to the methods of data collection.
