St Albans is located in southern Hertfordshire, 22 miles away from central London .This town has a lot of history behind it as it was once a roman settlement once known as Verulamium although some of the original verulamium still exists on the other side of the river ver. The name St Albans came from the first Christian martyr Alban.
The modern St Albans is 25 and 110 meters above sea level. It also quite accessible to get to as it links to the M10 which then links to the M1, it has links to the M25 (London orbital), and has a convenient system of A-roads (A414) that lead you to other motorways and to nearby towns. it has good train links into London such as the north south train link goes to Kings Cross and the Abbey Line which joins into the London underground.
The reason st Albans is a good town to study is that it provides many services including a weekly market and a shopping centre not only does it meet shopping needs many offices are available in the town with a number of industrial estates which are accessible due to the good links to London via motorways and transport that St Albans offer. Due to these good links St Albans has become a residence to commuters not only because of these links is St Albans a residence to commuters but also many come to see the historical features which St Albans hold such as St Albans abbey.
The theme of my individual investigation is to with shop hierarchy.
