There are several ways in which ethics affect statistics to which the information can be unethical. They can include data not reflective of the population, intentional introduction of biases, not providing enough detail or specifics in the data, and hypothesis does not fit the observations. Tom reviews the concept of “Pygmalion in the Classroom”. Teachers were told that some of their students, who were selected at random, would “bloom” in the upcoming year. In the CoffeeTime simulation, research was conducted through research on demographics, leisure & lifestyle, infrastructure, and competition. Each characteristic required a selection of various questions to be included on a survey which would result in being able to make a decision based on statistical information. The final survey included 26 relative questions to assist in determining whether expansion into India should be pursued (University, 2008). (Lind, 2005, p. 7)
Nominal data is a collection of information that only provides names or labels. It does not provide order, distance or origin. Nominal data contains a minimum of two categories that are mutually exclusive and collectively exhaustive. Nominal data is a qualitative measurement.
