When I decided to return to school I was frightened! It had been several years since I had been in a school environment and I was really concerned about how I would fit in and adapt. I was afraid that I would be the old lady in the room that would not be able to comprehend what was being taught by the instructor and I would be the one that had to take frequent bathroom breaks. As a working professional, I was challenged with finding a school that offered the Paralegal Technology program. This school had to be student friendly to help me ease my fears while complimenting my work schedule.
When I began my search from my desk utilizing online resources I found two schools in the triangle area that offered the paralegal technology program. I first looked at each schools admission requirements, tuition fees, student support services, job placement programs and campus environment. The admission requirement for one school alone was so overwhelming that it put even more fear in me and made me second guess my decision about attending college. So before I proceeded to look the second school I prayed and had many discussions with my family and my friends about my fears. They gave me great advice and encouragement me to move forward.
So as you can see I chose Chatman Technical Community College because it made me feel really comfortable with the small class sizes and the flexible class schedules. The staff was courteous, helpful and concerned, and answered all my questions. I was able to get enrolled and get my course outline requirements during my first initial meeting with my Advisor. The attention given to me helped to ease my fears and provided me with the confidence that I needed to move forward, with still being a bit frighten by the overall thought that “I was going back to school”.
