Experimental Overview: To find out which common household chemicals are acidic,
alkaline or neutral, by combining ingredients that would react by changing colors, consistence or form.

Material and Methods: 1.Obtain watch glass, small spatula, and 9 test tubes with rack, several Pasteur pipettes, deionized water, red cabbage juice, vinegar, hydrochloric acid, 0.01 M sodium hydroxide.

6 white substances: sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, citric acid, magnesium sulfate heptahydrate sucrose

Procedure:
Added a pea size amount of each of the white substances to 6 different test tubes, added approx. 2mL of water to each test tube in order to test solubility of the substance. Swirled the solution, documented results.
In the 7th test tube added 2mL of deionized water, in the 8th test tube placed 2mL of 0.1 hydrochloric acid, last test tube place 2mL of sodium hydroxide, added 3 drops of red cabbage juice to all 9 test tubes, mixed by swirling. Recorded observation
