Major Approaches Paper
We could define the term leadership as the ability to lead and conquer. Certainly, there is no definition of the term but basically it can be summarized as the ability possessed by an individual to influence, motivate and mobilize a conglomerate of people. There are several approaches to this issue when analyzing which are known as Trait Approach, Behavioral Approach, Power-Influence Approach, Situational Approach and Integrative Approach.
Following the above order, Trait Approach, based his research on the attributes of the individual and based on the premise that these individuals are natural leaders. Understood that the foregoing that this theory is emphasized in the analysis of personality, values, motivations and skills of the individual.
Meanwhile, Behavioral Approach, focuses on identifying the behavior analysis of effective leadership and time management. The third approach investigates the efficiency of the individual in terms of process execution and force, known as Power-Influence Approach. Our fourth approach, Situational, is divided into two sub-categories. The first investigates the similarity of the processes leading right through different types of organizations and the second attempts to identify situations that affect the performance and efficiency of the leader.
Trait Approach
Known as the theory of the great men, the Trait Approach is founded with the idea that some people are natural born leaders and therefore these individuals possess certain qualities that others do not possess.
This approach addresses a number of key features that have a close relationship with the habits and attributes that a leader should possess which supersedes all others. For example, charisma is a feature with which individuals are born, certainly not all possess the same degree or simply absent in the person.
