The technological phenomenon has become concretely prominent these last five years in such a way it has developed a new behavioral attitude that supported the enhancement of psychological syndromes that humans had once succeeded in controlling. Technology has become an integral part of lives. From the moment we get up we check our email, read our Facebook newsfeed and reply to unread text messages, all in a matter of seconds. For some people technology has over taken their lives. Addiction to technology is a serious problem, the advancement and use of technological devices has become an obsession and brought forth unhealthy changes in health and interpersonal relationships.
We live in the age of digital technology. This phrase is spoken often, sometimes with awe at what we as humans have created, and other times with distaste and a hint of fear of what more we can create. We have made the transmission of music easier and more compact through iPods; cellular phones have been made more practical to carry around, and are able to be there for times of emergency. The Internet provides people with information on almost anything and almost instantaneously with simply a few clicks of a button, and television is always there to tune into news stations and cartoons. But with all the forms of technology, a new way of life has been created for our generation. The dependency on social media and technology has become so strong that the term addiction now applies: “the words 'addicting' and 'obsessive' seem to describe much of the teen involvement in these electronic activities” (Brodie 42). It could be that we have developed along with these various electronics, and have grown too accustomed to their convenience, or perhaps parents are too busy to educate their children on the consequences of spending too much time in front of screens. No matter what the reason, technology and media have shaped the minds of those in our society, and have altered the human race in ways...
