Technology’s Impact on Organizational Training
Introduction
Training is a vital part to any organization. Regardless of the kind of industry an organization may be a part of, the world’s dynamic global economy has increased the need for organizational training more than ever. It is through training that employees gain knowledge about the organizations standards, ethics, and especially work processes. There are several different methods that organizations can choose to train their employees. As the world continues to change at such a rapid rate, organizational training must be able to keep pace. More and more organizations are turning to technological training in an effort create training programs that can help them solve this issue. From high-tech jobs to manufacturing, efficient, cost-effective training and employee development are necessary for day-to-day operations and for meeting strategic business objectives; technology is the way to achieve it all.
The Issue
Many organizations gear their training towards technological training methods because of the convenience and personnel training cost it provides. Technology is evolving at a fast pace in every aspect of society’s life: in schooling, personal (home), and organizational training programs. Traditionally, organizational training required personnel to take time away from their job to attend training sessions. This resulted in a loss of productivity hours and therefore negatively impacted an organization’s profit margin. In the long-term, traditional training can become quite costly, and research shows that trainees are not necessarily able to transfer what they learned back to the actual real work environment.
