Parental permission is required before a girl under age eighteen can have an abortion. Sometimes a judge can excuse you from this law in a process called ‘’Judicial Bypass.’’ In some states there may be a 24 hour waiting period from the time you speak to a counselor in a clinic or doctor’s office, until the time of the procedure. Some states require nothing, some require a parent notification, and some require parental consent.
Abortions are not the healthiest surgery to get. There are many risks in response to this action, because abortions are not just a simple medical procedure. For many women, it is a life changing event with significant physical, emotional, and spiritual consequences. Studies show that most women who struggled with past abortions say that they wished they had been told all of the facts about abortion and its risks. There are numerous risks that are bound to happen. You may experience heavy bleeding, infection, incomplete abortions, sepsis, anesthesia, damage to the cervix or internal organs, scarring of the uterine lining, or perforation of the uterus. The worse that is to happen is death, because you can come upon so many complications that your body can give out.
