Propositions 30 & 38
My social issue is about propositions 30 and 38. Proposition 30 is about sales and income taxes increase. On the other hand proposition 38 is about state income tax increase to support our schools. Proposition 30 had passed in the 2012 election and proposition 38 didn’t. The questions that came to mind were what are these for? Why do these keep coming on? Who came up with these propositions? Why or why not do they need to pass? And as I kept thinking the more question kept coming.
What had inspired me to write about this topic? Well since it was election time I saw the commercials and seen signs, at first I wasn’t paying any attention to them but as I kept watching them on television and the signs were everywhere and was thinking that I should do my social political issue on that. As it was getting closer and closer to the election I was getting tired of them coming on and didn’t realize how important it was I just thought they were trying to get people money just for the heck of it.
My argument for proposition 30 was to prevent cuts from our schools and our colleges. Without proposition 30 our schools and colleges would face an outstanding additional 6 billion cut from our schools and we don’t want that do we? No we don’t so that why we have to try and past this prop. For proposition 38 my argument was to stop investing in our schools. Ours school need the money and the teachers. For the past few years the state of California took over $20 billion from our schools and laid over 40,000 teachers, principles, assistance principles and etc.
The flip side of my argument was to vote no on proposition 30 because nowhere in the state law said that the money would go to our schools. Another reason why they wanted no on proposition 30 because
