life is a blank canvas. paint your own picture.

while living abroad for a year i've discovered that i really do have the whole world in my hands. cliche? maybe a little bit. but as big as the world is, the capacity we have as individuals to chart our own paths is much more powerful than mere distances or cultural barriers. nothing is holding us back but ourselves. it is an easy enough concept, but much harder to implement when it comes right down to it. Nevertheless, this life is all we've got (unless the metaphysical really does exist then we may have millions of times to recreate ourselves until we reach the true height of our existence). But if we really only have one shot at things, why not devote every minute of every day to achieving the life we wish for ourselves? Why not make every minute count? Inherently, everyday life is not exciting and doesn't produce an adrenaline rush of thrill BUT we have the decision to make the inconsequential GRAND! We can look at a routine task as just that: routine, OR we can choose to recreate every experience and recreate ourselves while doing it. Regardless of the circumstance we were born into or the situations we've landed ourselves in now, we can choose--at this very moment--to uproot all our past failures and turn every moment into a success! Interact with people, discover new places, laugh when things aren't funny---and you'll start discovering yourself! We are all a work in progress. The success we derive from our lives depends on the effort we put into ourselves and the creativity we evoke while doing it...paint yourself the life you've pictured for yourself!
